Centaur Investment Management operates a long short fund currently specializing in UK equities. Over the past two years the fund has delivered compound returns of over 300%, meaning it is one of the most successful funds in the marketplace. Recent further investment has expedited our growth and as a result we are looking for two world class traders to join our newly opened office in Singapore. Equity Trader
Background
• The candidate will have 3-5 years knowledge of equities but experience of other asset classes is an advantage
• Candidates will have an extensive understanding of long short equity strategies and an understanding of arbitrage and other strategies will be viewed positively
• Needs to be very sharp, know the markets, and understand risk/reward
• Evidence of past success and/or backtesting will be required
Role and Responsibilities
• Responsibility for sourcing, initiating, researching, undertaking due diligence, valuing, executing, and monitoring portfolio positions
• Take responsibility for increasing efficiency in all trading and infrastructural issues including trading systems, broker relationships, P&L reporting etc.
• Strong understanding of technology combing the ability to work with technologists and quantitative researchers
• Supporting and making investment recommendations
• Assist in model development, implementation and testing
• Generate cross market/product ideas to enhance team profitability
• Developing a strong understanding of value, intrinsic market curiosity/initiative/aggressiveness and working in a team.
Senior Equity Trader
Background
• Highly successful, highly profitable market neutral trader, trading with more than £10 million
• Must have a proven track record conducting equity analysis in a buy-side institution - hedge fund, fund of funds, or asset management company with 5 to 10 years of market experience
• Previous experience in developing an electronic trading platform or has, at least, a good understanding of the technology, analytics, processes and human capital
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of risk metrics, position sizing and expectancy pay off
• Evidence of an innovative, proactive working style combined with a self dependant, resilient nature within a results orientated team environment
Role and Responsibilities
• Produce new techniques and develop products based upon own innovative trading strategies
• Ensure methods, either discretionary or systematic will be scalable up to £100 million+
• Construct proprietary position across portfolio
• Utilize a combination of approach methods including statistical arbitrage, correlation and convergence, as well as fundamental and technical views
• Develop the following skill sets within the team: volatility trading, shape trading, programme trading, technical & fundamental, basis (commodity, location, product, time), statistical arbitrage, market making.
• Ensure accurate pricing, entry, hedging and exit
• Actively encourage entrepreneurial spirit and a highly charged and results oriented environment
Salary & Benefits
For both roles above average packages and bonuses are offered based upon experience. Singapore has a favourable tax system meaning income is only subject to a 10% tax rate. Further more we encourage a relaxed working atmosphere so as to actively encourage innovation and creativity.
